Festival Day 1, July 5th

The first day of the Neversea concert was wild. I’ve never seen so many people in one place at one time! I went with two guys from work around 630pm and we planned to leave around 11. Cash and card transactions were prohibited, in order to spend money there, you had to load money into your account where you purchased your ticket through. Then you had to transfer it to this wristband which has an RFID tag inside of it. To purchase drinks you scan your wristband. A beer only cost 13 Lei, which is $2.83. Maaaan that’s dangerous lol. My freaking wristband kept not working so I had to add more money to it. We were all buying beer for each other then I seemed like a cheapo because I couldn’t purchase anything. It was aggravating but they helped me out. It ended up working again at the end of the night to buy us food. Everything was so fuckin cheap but the food lines were long. We had cuban sandwiches and loaded fries, pretty delicious but didn’t have a drink. That was around 11ish when we were making our super long trek back from the main stage.

These women kept coming up to me and talking to me in Romanian. I’m walking with the boys and they never got approached once. They came up to me 8 times, it was so much that we made a drinking game out of it. They kept saying I look Romanian, and every time we’d see a bald Romanian after that we’d just look at each other and laugh. Come to find out, they were doing surveys and selling cigarettes and Plume vapes. After they talked to people, they’d pull out a small iPad and start taking information down. I just would say English and they would brush me off with an attitude. These people don’t care to tell/show you what they think. Meanies.

There’s no personal bubble here. I already knew that but I still can’t get used to it. It was uncomfortable standing up for hours being so packed that people are basically leaning on each other. I keep my hands near my loose short pockets because I don’t wanna lose my wallet and passport. And they’ll bust through the crowd pushing people out of the way. And it’s normal? Shit, wanna throw hands? Jk lol.

I got back and took a shower and went straight to bed. I barely slept, this morning is rough.

[They way they set up the payment means they get to keep all the money that people deposit. Kinda like Starbucks is a large bank when people deposit Starbucks in their accounts knowing it can only be spent there. So, if you put money on your wristband, you can only use it for that day. They make you buy tokens, where one Lei is one token. And you spend the tokens. So they’ve already made the money as soon as you’ve bought the tokens. Beautifully selfish.]

Pictures and videos coming as soon as I have time to figure this thing out.
